Troop Trail Conditioning, outdoor fitness bootcamp in Wirral

Troop Trail Conditioning

A one hour session consisting of trail running / brisk walking and body weight exercises. Each route is approximately 5Km in total.

These fantastic fitness classes are run twice a week at different locations across the Wirral on Tuesday evenings 7pm and Saturday mornings 9am. The locations change weekly and you would be informed in advance on where to meet if you would like a space via a social media post on Facebook, Instagram or alternatively via a DM if you are not on social media.

Participants can work at their own pace and have the autonomy on how much they would like to do within the hour. When you arrive at the pre designated location, Matt will guide you through a warm up loop which is usually about 1km in distance and this will provide familiarity of the route. From there, you will then repeat the loop by yourself or with a workout partner and once you have returned, a full body circuit will be set up for you using resistance bands and bodyweight exercises. This is where Matt will remain for the session to coach you on the exercises. Some participants can manage up to 2-3 km in total distance, whilst others can get up to 5km in total distance.

A basic level of aerobic fitness is required to take part in this workout. Contact MCT Fitness to discuss if the class is suitable for you.

If you love being outdoors then this class is for you! There is no other class like this around and you will get to experience some of Wirral’s fantastic locations. Troop Trail Conditioning is great for building stamina, aerobic fitness and confidence and can be a good way to prepare your body and mind for any of the outdoor events like Tough Mudder.

Ditch that treadmill or repetitive road route and join our Troop on a Troop Trail Conditioning session!

Benefits of outdoor exercise

All of MCT Fitness classes are conducted outside. Below are 3 key reasons why outdoor fitness / exercise is superior.

Data suggests that outdoor fitness / exercise can help you stick with regular physical activity because of the feel-good factor. The oxygen boost you get from the fresh air gets the serotonin flowing.

It can help reduce depression and anxiety. Exercise in general, is a known depression alleviating practice. During exercise your body releases endorphins, which are the body’s natural feel-good hormones that also help relieve pain. Studies show that people who exercise are less likely to experience depression than people who are inactive. When it comes to outdoor exercise / fitness vs indoor exercise / fitness, some evidence shows that being outdoors has a further optimising effect on depression-relief than being indoors.

It gets you to actually spend time outdoors. Most people spend the majority of their day indoors and or behind a desk. You can feel more empowered from exercising outdoors and spending a small amount of your time in the fresh air than spending even ‘more’ time indoors by exercising indoors.

So, come wind, rain or shine, outdoor fitness classes are where the magic happens. Wear the appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and get fit, in shape, strong, increase mood and feel awesome!

Outdoor boot camp reviews

“I’ve recently moved to the Wirral and was looking for somewhere I could go to carry on with my fitness journey. I’d previous been to a boot camp and came across MCT Fitness by chance on FB and it just what I was looking for. I was a bit nervous and apprehensive going to my first session, but I shouldn’t have been as everyone was friendly, I wasn’t made to feel like the ‘newbie’ and Matt was very good at making sure I was doing the exercises correctly. “Enid Grant

“I attended my first class this week and absolutely loved it. Matt was very helpful when I spoke to him prior to joining. Then both Matt and the group were very welcoming when I turned up. The exercises were good fun, well led but also challenging. I liked the fact that you could go at your own pace so it is very accommodating to anyone of any fitness level. Will definitely be attending more regularly and would recommend to anyone.”Ciaran Lyons

“I have been doing the SLF (Stronger Leaner Fitter) group sessions with Matt in West Kirby for the past 4 weeks and have been really enjoying them. I am reasonably active and have enjoyed running and cycling and playing sports but as I get older I realise the importance of needing core strength work to help prevent injuries and other problems. I can’t motivate myself to go to the gym and I love being outdoors so these sessions are perfect for me.”Chris N

“I went to my first session today with MCT Fitness and loved it. Really friendly and fun group of people and the exercises were great. I feel they targeted all muscle groups well and effectively. Matt’s explanations were extremely clear too! I will definitely be joining again once I am back from traveling. Thank you, Matt!”Annabel Colvin
